Steeply Sloping Terrain

Laurent's lightly clad linear forms reference the banded rhythm of the traditional Queenslander, reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. Weatherboard and timber detailing nod to the past while clearly defining each level with its own inimitable character.
Timber screening wraps the exterior as a second skin, allowing natural ventilation to cool the home passively while adding a textural depth that shifts with light and shadow throughout the day. The double-layered approach of the facade carries into the interior, expressed through joinery details such as the island bench - creating a cohesion between outside and in.
Despite the drama of its sloping terrain, Laurent is a composed and grounded presence - a home that belongs to its street while standing apart from it.
A modern reinterpretation of the Queensland vernacular.
